Kathmandu Vineyard on Saturday, April 26th was a day of great celebration as Uddav and Puja Thapa (pictured, below), along with Prem and Kanchimaya Bahadur BK (pictured, bottom) were ordained as pastors for the Chhampi and Gatlang Vineyard churches, respectively. Chhampi is a village in the hills about an hour’s drive from Kathmandu, and Gatlang is an even more remote village in the mountains (2,200m) where Tamang villagers live in Tibetan-style homes.
The Saturday morning ordination service was filled with much worship and praise, during which we had the chance to surround the pastoral couples with our support and blessing in prayer. These couples have already been doing the work of pastoring in their communities, and our ordination service is a way to recognize and publicly acknowledge what God is doing through them, and to bless them to do it more.
It’s exciting to see God building His kingdom throughout the Himalayan region, and especially to see pastors being raised up to lead and grow churches in the villages. Our thoughts and prayers are with these new pastoral couples, that God may fill them with wisdom, love, and the power of His Spirit as they seek to bring His kingdom to their communities and shepherd people in the ways of Christ.
